"Who Cares about Mexican Bats," by John J. Pint, was published in the NSS News in March, 1994, but--unfortunately--is very much relevant today. Confusing nectar, fruit and insect-eating bats with vampires, country people in Mexico still fight an endless battle against a creature that has finally been recognized as possibly the most important mammal on earth.
